The brother of convicted triple murderer Max Sica says he couldn’t have killed the Singh siblings and he’s offering a $270,000 reward for information that will clear his name.
Max Sica was sentenced to three life sentences for the murders of his ex-girlfriend Neelma Singh, 24, and her siblings Kunal 18, and Sidhi, 12, in their Bridgeman Downs home in Brisbane’s north in 2003.
He has always maintained his innocence.
His brother, Claudio Sica, told Nine Network’s A Current Affair on Tuesday they were at home together when the murders took place.
“Max was in bed,” he said.
“I believe that the police just choose to believe what they wanted to believe.”
Claudio Sica also claimed crucial evidence, including unidentified fingerprints, was never mentioned in the trial because of the costs of investigating them.
He offered a $270,000 reward for anyone who could help prove his brother’s innocence.
“Innocent until proven guilty is just a nice phrase in the legal textbook,” he said.
Max Sica’s wife Shiv Sica said she knew her husband was a murder suspect when she met him and she knew about his criminal past, including stints behind bars, but she had never questioned his innocence.
Mrs Sica said she would continue to fight to clear his name, but if she couldn’t she would wait for him to be released.
He isn’t eligible for parole for 35 years.
“I will be maybe 70,” Mrs Sica said.
She and her husband felt for the Singh family, she said.
“Even though I’ve never met them, I feel like I know the children personally,” she said.
“Max and I, we’ve always prayed for those three children, and we’ll continue to do so.”
