Shots fired as feud escalates

A man has been shot three times in the legs as part of a continuing feud in northern Tasmania.

A 36-year-old shot in parkland at Ravenswood near Launceston on Thursday night is refusing to help police investigating the attack.

“It is an ongoing feud between these two men that has been going for a couple of months now,” Detective Inspector Scott Flude told AAP.

“Certainly it escalated a little bit last night, which is unfortunate.

“Our concern is for public safety and we want to just reassure the community these are not random shootings.”

The man underwent surgery at Launceston General Hospital on Thursday night.

Det Insp Flude said witnesses were also refusing to co-operate but police are confident they know the man they are looking for.

He said the incident was related to two others in May, when shots were fired at a house in the same area and a gun was produced but not fired at a club.
