The incident happened at a bar in Tuscaloosa early on Tuesday. The gunman remained at large.
A spokesman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Sergeant Brent Blankley, confirmed the attack.
Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson said the shooter fired first through a window, and then shot at people outside as they fled the bar.
About 90 people were in the bar at the time of the incident, said Riley Dunn, a University of Alabama senior who was injured in the shooting.
“It was kind of loud from the music, but we heard the gunshot, and no one really knew what to think. The first gunshot took place, then about 20 seconds later, that’s when he really started firing them off. After that, everyone really scattered,” Dunn said.
The assailant was seen in surveillance video from the back as he walks down a sidewalk with what appears to be a gun in one hand.
