Shanghai festival to screen Iranian film

Karkhani’s Ekbatan is to compete for the Magnolia Award of the 18th Shanghai film festival in China.

Written by Karkhani, the movie is a free adaptation of the late filmmaker Jalal Moqaddam’s Escape from the Trap (1971).

The film narrates the story of a brother trying to save his sister who is facing an intricate situation.

The 47-year-old Karkhani started his artistic career with photography in 1983 and later moved on to other fields such as acting, filmmaking, and scriptwriting. Loose Rope and My Sin are his better-known works.

Karkhani’s other cinematic production National Alley took part in several international festivals in India and Singapore and was well received by the audience.

Shanghai Television Festival (STVF), which is annually held in June, is considered as an international competitive television festival and hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and TV and the Shanghai Municipal Government.
