FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Three Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations rejected on Tuesday earlier reports which said she had been hospitalized in Meir hospital, the Palestinian WAFA news agency reported.
“As of today, the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) is refusing to transfer Ms. Shalabi to the hospital, despite yesterday’s urgent reports by her doctor that she should be transferred immediately,” ADDAMEER and al-Haq — two Palestinian human rights organizations — and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, announced in a joint statement on Tuesday.
The statement said that Shalabi was transferred back to IPS medical center in Ramla prison hospital on Monday night after she was denied admittance to Israel’s Meir hospital for unknown reasons on the same night.
The statement quoted Shalabi as saying that she was handled violently by being “dragged across the floor” during her various transfers on Monday.
The three organizations expressed “grave concern” for the health of Shalabi, “who is at immediate risk of death” and warned that the medical care quality administered by the IPS is not adequate to attend to her deteriorating health condition.
Shalabi has been on a hunger strike since her arrest in the northern West Bank on February 16. She was originally ordered to be detained without trial for six months.
Although Shalabi was among more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners released in October 2011 in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, she was later re-arrested and sent back to prison.
According to Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics and prisoner advocacy groups, there are currently over 6000 Palestinian prisoners, including legislators, in Israeli jails, many of whom have been rounded up without charge or trial. Independent sources put the number of the inmates at 11,000.
