Image released … police want to speak to this man.
Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to about a sexual assault in Sydney, showing him smiling and walking in an inner-city supermarket.
Investigators have released the images to renew their appeal over the alleged attack in Rozelle earlier this month.
A woman, 23, and a man shared a taxi from Hyde Park to the intersection of Lilyfield and Victoria Roads, Rozelle, on the night of Saturday, June 2.
The pair got out of the taxi, before he dragged her into bushes and sexually assaulted her, police said.
The woman broke free and ran away soon after.
The day after the alleged attack police appealed for information, saying they were looking for a man described as being over 183cm tall, with a thin build and short black hair.
He also spoke with a British accent.
This morning police released the images, which appear to be CCTV photos from Woolworths at Town Hall.
He is pictured wearing a black leather jacket and dark pants.
“Obviously the biggest lead is looking to speak to the male in the images,” Detective Inspector Paul Pisanos said.
“We’re canvassing any witnesses who may be able to identify him.”
Police asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
In a separate alleged attack, a man approached a 67-year-old woman from behind while she walked in International Peace Park in Seven Hills about 3pm yesterday.
Police said the man exposed himself and grabbed her, trying to rip off her clothes.
He then pushed her to the ground in a nearby alleyway, hit her with a stick and punched her, police said.
The man then ran away.
The woman was treated at hospital and told police via a Croatian translator what happened.
She said the man was about 30-years-old, about 183cm tall, with short blonde hair.
He was wearing a long-sleeved shirt which was orange and blue.
