Severe fire warning issued for parts of WA

Residents in the inland parts of the Central Wheatbelt in Western Australia are being warned of a severe fire danger for Thursday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a Severe Fire Danger Rating, which includes the Shire of Mount Marshall, the Shire of Mukinbudin and the Shire of Westonia.

Very hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast.

Residents are being told to stay alert and watch for signs of fire, especially smoke.

“If you live in or near bush or a forested area you are at risk and need to act now,” the Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) said on Wednesday.

Residents are advised to read through their bushfire survival plan and if not prepared to the highest level to leave bushfire risk areas early in the day.

They can check the Fire Danger Rating in their area by visiting www.bom.gov.au or calling 1300 659 213.
