Seven hurt as two cars collide at intersection at Beenleigh

FIVE teenagers – all 16 and under – had to be cut from the wreckage of a car after a serious two vehicle crash at Beenleigh that closed a major arterial road for nine hours today.


The car contained two14 year-old boys, one 16 year-old boy and two 16 year-old girls.

A 14 year-old boy is critical and a 16-year-old girl has serious facial injuries.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free five people who were seriously trapped in the wreckage of one of the vehicles.

A 42 year-old man and a 37 year-old man, were in the other vehicle.

Police said two cars collided near the intersection of Logan River Road and Harburg Drive shortly before 3.20am, with one of the vehicles crashing into a tree.

Police would not comment on the cause of the accident saying “forensic officers were still investigating”.

The roads were reopened at 1pm.

Multiple crews from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) attended the serious traffic just before 3.30am.

Paramedics treated and transported seven patients at the scene, three in a stable condition, two in a serious condition and two in a critical condition.

A 14-year-old girl was rushed to Mater Children’s Hospital unconscious in a serious condition with facial injuries.

A 40-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were taken unconscious with head injuries to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Thee others,  a 14-year-old boy with a fractured leg, a 40-year-old man with minor chest and abdominal injuries and a 14-year-old girl with a foot injury were transported to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

A 37-year-old man was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with a minor head injury and a fractured leg.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
