Sergio Vieira de Mello about ethnic purity

Sergio Vieira de Mello, at the time the UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, said in 1999:

Ethnic purity is basically a Nazi concept. That is what the allied powers fought against during the second world war. That’s what the United Nations was established to fight against over the decades. That is what NATO fought against in fact in Kosovo. And that’s that is why the Security Council requested us to establish such a strong presence in Kosovo, precisely to prevent ethnic purity

This is an interesting statement because when de Mello died a few years later in a bombing in Iraq, Jews mourned him. The magazine Forward wrote:

Jewish activists mourned the violent death of the United Nations high commissioner for human rights and expressed hope that his successors will pursue his efforts to reach out to Jews and Israel.

The article goes on to describe how de Mello defended the Jewish ethnostate Israel and how he had contacts with Jewish organizations such as the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B’rith and the AJCommittee.

In other words, de Mello was a faithful servant of Jewry, always ready to support the double standard which says that nationalism is acceptable for Jews, but not for Europeans.
