There’s no doubt that improving transportation is a priority for the environmental movement (though not the only priority — we also need to significantly improve buildings, how we produce food, electronics, etc). Moving goods and people around requires a lot of energy, and sadly, most of that energy still comes from fossil fuels that pollute our air and mess up our planet’s climate. And while the U.S. is a leader in many fields, it still has a lot of work to do to be in a leadership position when it comes to transportation. One of the people who has the power to do something about it is U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
Mr. LaHood does a monthly videoblog that addresses transportation issues, and for his next one he’s requested some questions from the public via our friends at Streetsblog. We highly encourage you to submit a green-related question; democracy works better when you make your voices heard, and the more politicians hear about certain important issues, the better.
