Security scare delays Houston murder case

A security scare has led to the adjournment of a court case for the third person charged with the murder of 24-year-old David John Houston.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Friday afternoon after approaching police at a south Fremantle house where they were conducting forensic investigations.

He was due to appear in the East Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with one count of murder.

A police spokesman said the magistrate decided to adjourn the matter after a security situation at the connected watchhouse.

He would not confirm whether or not it was a bomb scare.

The accused was the third person to be charged with murder as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Mr Houston on May 11. Mr Houston was last seen at his Hilton home after being dropped off in a taxi about 6.50pm (WST).

A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man appeared in Perth Magistrates Court earlier this week.

The woman is scheduled to face the same court on Thursday, while the man is due to appear at Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on June 27.

A Western Australia police spokesman said police were still investigating whether Mr Houston’s remains were those at a clandestine grave discovered last week.
