Second arrest over theft of baby’s ashes

A SECOND person has been charged over the theft of an urn containing the ashes of a baby girl from a Melbourne home.

Police charged a 38-year-old St Kilda woman with burglary, theft and four counts of deception this morning relating to the theft of the ashes of a four-month-old girl from an East Brighton home earlier this month.

A 26-year-old Heidelberg man was also charged over the burglary last week.

But police are yet to recover the ashes.

The family, who wished to remain anonymous, pleaded with thieves to return the urn, which was stolen along with cash, credit cards and electrical goods on February 6.

The St Kilda woman was bailed by police to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on May 15.
