The shift was recorded by the same polling system that found the surge of support for the Scottish National Party (SNP) to a majority in the Holyrood (Scottish) elections in 2011.
The new research largely differs from other recent polls that show women are no more likely to vote No than men, signifying that men and women are equally likely to oppose Scottish independence.
It is estimated that women are more likely to be undecided, but the Yes camp says that as their minds are being made up more, they are supporting a Yes vote.
The other area of strong support found for Scottish independence was among young people aged between 16 and 24.
A Yes Scotland strategist said, “This new, robust research is based on a sample several times the size of a conventional poll.”
Scotland’s pro-independence campaign considers that voter engagement is the key to success and that the more interested people are; the more open they are to being persuaded of the advantages of a Yes vote.
The survey found that 74 percent of Scots are interested in the debate and only 10 percent say they are not interested.
