FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda “Any agreement made upon the order of the foreigners in Persian Gulf littoral states is doomed to failure,” said Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi, senior military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, on Saturday.
“Today regional nations, including the brave people of Bahrain, are vigilant and foreign powers and their regional agents cannot impose certain [things]…on regional nations,” he added.
Members of the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council ([P]GCC), which includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman, met in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Monday to discuss closer union among the six countries.
They failed to make any concrete decision on forming a confederation that would initially merge Saudi Arabia with Bahrain but agreed to continue to discuss the plan, which was put forward by Saudi Arabia.
In December 2011, Saudi King Abdullah called on the council members to move “beyond the stage of cooperation and into the stage of unity in a single entity.”
Saudi Arabia is reportedly seeking to merge with Bahrain in line with plans to unify the six Arab member states of the [P]GCC.
The Saudi plan would give Manama internal political autonomy while Riyadh would stay in charge of the country’s military affairs.
