Christmas is a time for families. Unfortunately, these eight adorable puppies don’t have one of their own.

The litter are looking for a new home after being dumped on the staff at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London by their owner a few days ago.

Each pup has been given a seasonal name after Santa’s reindeer – from left to right Dasher, Cupid, Prancer, Donner, Dancer, Comet, Blitzen and Vixen.

The black, white and tan pups are mongrels. Although their breed is unknown, they are likely to grow quite big.

The mischievous pups will spend Christmas alongside 500 other dogs and 175 cats at the home, where carols will be played in the kennels and the scent of frankincense and nutmeg will be wafted in the air to keep the dogs’ environment interesting.

Lindsey Quinlan, Battersea’s operations manager, said: ‘Ultimately we want them to find a new home, but until then we have to make our kennels and cattery as enjoyable as possible.’

Thank God for dear old Battersea Dogs Home. They really are a wonderful organisation and thank God we have a place like this for animals that need to be rehomed. God bless Battersea and I am sure these adorable pups will get a home soon. Just spare a thought for the older dogs though they can be just as rewarding.

Shelters are at bursting point all over the country, please consider adopting a cat or dog in the new year. I volunteer at an animal shelter and we have had an unprecidented amount of abandoned animals this year, largely due to indiscriminate breeding caused by people trying to make a quick buck in the free ads like Gumtree and Preloved……

Look cute, as all puppies do, but you’d be foolish not taking a guess at the background. Looks to me like a pitbull was involved, they have big strong jaws now, so I wouldnt give them house room especially where kids are involved

Is the Battersea home a “no kill shelter” ?

Oh My God Donner is soooooo cute. If I had the time for a dog then I would take him home and hug and kiss him so much…………- Fiona, ex-pat Scot in France, 23/12/2011 lol, it’s an animal, not a puppet you know

Oh God! Definite tug at the heart strings…..

D.M Please , In a perfect world , this wouldn’t happen , but surely BETTER the owner takes them to Battersea dogs and cats home , than “dumps” them quite literally on the roadside to fend for themselves .
They are real cuties , Personally , I think the wording as quoted was somewhat derogatory of the owners actions , when so many more animal owners are cruelly dumping their animals or worse .

I’m happy to see mongrels getting a plug rather than “pure” breeds, but why wasn’t the mother spayed so this “problem” even happened. Irresponsible dog owners are a menace the world over.

Hardly abandoned what a stupid headline. They were taken to a place that the owner knew they would be cared for until they could be rehomed. Surely that’s a sensible thing!! Rather that than other awful scenarios.

I will take all of them, but there is a problem, i live in Thailand. If this dogs home will pay the costs to send them to me i will take them no problem. I will then transport them onto Vietnam to provide food for the poor, (why waste goood food).
