Salehi made the remark during a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Yerzhan Kazykhanov on Wednesday.
He called for the improvement of Iran-Kazakhstan ties in political, economic, cultural and scientific sectors as well as the development of mutual cooperation.
Salehi also described cooperation and consultations between the two countries on regional and international developments as beneficial to the regional and international interests of both countries.
The top Iranian diplomat referred to the numerous commonalities between the two countries and said Iran-Kazakhstan relations are deeply rooted in history.
The Kazakh official, for his part, said that the development of economic and trade ties with Iran was among Kazakhstan’s policies.
He said that Kazakhstan always supported Iran’s stance in regional and international arenas and called for more cooperation with Iran.
Salehi arrived in Kazakhstan early Wednesday to hold talks with Kazakh officials including President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Transportation Minister Serik Akhmetov.
He is also expected to attend the 12th joint economic cooperation commission meeting of Iran and Kazakhstan.
