Following the interview of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, during which he confirmed the unified position in Syria between Damascus and its allies, the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin said that his country’s decision was made in coordination with all parties.
“Russia, Iran, Syria and Hezbollah have the same position regarding the Syrian file,” Sayyed Nasrallah said on Monday during his interview with Beirut-based Al-Mayadeen TV.
Speaking to Al-Manar TV, Zasypkin stressed that Russia is coordinating matters with the Syrian government.
“It is true that we are coordinating with the Syrian regime, who in turn is coordinating steps with the Resistance axis. Thus we cooperate politically and on ground with the Syrian regime first of all,” he said.
The Russian ambassador reiterated that Kremlin has vowed to welcome any Syrian President elected by his people.
“In this regard, our principle position is the calling for political conciliation, which intersects with the stance of Iran and that of Hezbollah.”
Touching upon the political negotiations between the Syrian delegation and the different opposition factions in Geneva, the diplomat underlined that what terrorist groups and allies didn’t manage to gain through battlefields, they will not take it through politics.
“They are politically incapable of gaining what they failed to gain on the ground,” Zasypkin said.
Last week, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic held a session of talks with UN envoy Stefan de Mistura, his deputy Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, and senior assistants at the UN headquarters in Geneva.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Head of Syrian delegation Bashar al-Jaafari said the talks were useful and constructive and discussed “practical steps” to help open the door for a successful Syrian-Syrian dialogue.
