Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The conversation took place at the initiative of the Israeli side.
“Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu exchanged congratulations on the 76th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Taking into account the fact that Victory Day is also officially celebrated in Israel, the President of Russia asked to convey the wishes of health and well-being to the veterans living there,” the statement on the Kremlin’s website says.
It is noted that some topical issues of bilateral cooperation were also discussed, including a readiness to intensify trade and economic relations and to hold a regular meeting of the intergovernmental commission soon. In addition, Putin and Netanyahu agreed to continue the dialogue through the security councils, as well as the military, foreign policy and economic departments.
The parties paid special attention to the international agenda, focusing on the problems in Syria. The Prime Minister told the Russian President about the contacts of the Israeli side with Kiev.
Earlier, Putin expressed condolences to Netanyahu in connection with the death of people at the holiday.
