Russian Jet: West Defends Terrorist State Turkey

US and European leaders have rushed to support Turkey in the wake of the downing of a Russian jet—hypocritically ignoring the fact that the Turkish state is, in terms of the US government’s own definition, a sponsor of international terrorism, and is in violation of European Union civil rights laws.

According to a statement released by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, that organization has fully supported Turkey’s decision to shoot down a Russian bomber.

US President Barack Obama said in his reaction that “Turkey, like every country, has a right to defend its territory and its airspace.”

Both Stoltenberg—a former prime minister of Norway—and Obama are simply ignoring the realities of Turkey’s involvement in international terrorism because it suits them to blame Russia.

The US’s official legal definition of international terrorism is contained in Section 2656f(d) of Title 22 of the United States Code, and reads as follows:

(1) the term “international terrorism” means terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than one country;

(2) the term “terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents.

The organization called the “Free Syrian Army”—which Obama ordered the CIA and other agencies to support in July 2012—was in fact created by the official intelligence agency of the Turkish state in July 2011, as admitted by Haytham Manna, one of the founders of the “Syrian opposition” groups, in an article in the Guardian newspaper:

Turkey trained army dissidents on its territory, and a group of them announced the birth of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) under the supervision of Turkish military intelligence (Haytham Manna, “Syria’s opposition has been led astray by violence,” The Guardian, Friday, June 22, 2012).

The Turkish government then gave the “Free Syrian Army” complete freedom of movement within Turkey’s borders, and, together with American allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar, also supplied the “Free Syrian Army” with weapons and other military equipment.

By 2014, the US government had officially announced that they were arming the “Free Syrian Army” as well (“Advanced US Weapons Flow to Syrian Rebels,” Wall Street Journal, April 18, 2014), although it was clear from the weapons already in use by the FSA that the CIA had been supplying them covertly—through Turkey—ever since Obama’s 2011 order.

By 2015, it had become apparent that the FSA had vanished—with most of its soldiers and equipment having joined ISIS in Syria (“Four Years Later, The Free Syrian Army Has Collapsed,” International Business Times, March 14, 2015).

Even without this mass desertion to ISIS, it is clear that Turkey had fulfilled all of the definitions of US law as being a sponsor of international terrorism:

– Turkey has openly sponsored terrorism involving citizens or the territory of more than one country; and

– Turkey has openly supported premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents.

However, because Turkey was doing this with the support of the American government—spurred on in turn by its controlling Jewish lobby which has long sought the destruction of Syria and all other enemies of Israel in the Middle East—it has not been added to the US State Department’s official “sponsors of terrorism” list.

Instead, the US State Department has added Syria to that list, because that nation’s government dares to be friends with Hezbollah, a Lebanese-based organization formed to defend Lebanon against repeated Israeli military invasions.

To add insult to injury, both the US and the European Union governments have ignored massive human rights abuses in Turkey. A recent European Commission report, which was deliberately suppressed just before the recent Turkish elections, revealed that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AK Party (AKP) is “backsliding on civil rights.”

The German Die Welt newspaper reported that the Commission report is “sharply critical of the human rights and rule of law situation in Turkey,” and the Der Spiegel newspaper said that it showed that “political activists and journalists are routinely intimidated and hampered by excessive use of force.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has already officially offered Turkey EU membership and over €3 billion in “aid” if that state helps in trying to stem the flood of refugee-terrorist invaders pouring into Europe.

In this regard, Merkel’s hypocrisy is only exceeded by her stupidity. As outlined above, the Syrian “civil war”—which supposedly has served as the impetus for the “refugees”—was de facto started by the Turkish government when it set up the original FSA.
