Russia to step up border security

Vladimir Streltsov, a deputy head of the security service, said the country is expected to use radars, laser control systems, CCTV cameras, unmanned planes, and night vision equipment to enhance the security of its borders.

Streltsov added that the Federal Security Service was also planning to employ ground effect vehicles (GEVs) to control the country’s borders.

The border guards would be equipped with modern four-wheelers and snowmobiles, he added.

Russia has land borders with 14 nations and maritime borders with Japan and US state of Alaska.
