Logan City councillor Hajnal Black says she is determined to run for council again despite being found guilty of failing to disclose her assets.

Black fronted the Beenleigh Magistrates Court this morning and was found guilty of four breaches of the Local Government Act.

Magistrate Trevor Morgan found her guilty of failing to inform the council’s chief executive about property, bank accounts and a personal loan between 2009 and 2011.

Black was ordered to pay $8,500 and a conviction was recorded.

As a result of the verdict, she could be forced to step down from her role and be banned from office for four years.

But Black says she was not treated fairly.

“Every point of law that I’ve raised, he ruled the other way, concerns of bias. All this sort of stuff it’s just so obvious,” she said.

Black is planning to appeal the ruling and run for council again.

But Ipswich councillor Paul Tully says the result spells the end of her time at Logan Council.

“I understand that she’d be barred from standing for local government for four years, and because of the late election this year in local government it would mean she couldn’t stand for the 2016 local government elections,” he said.

“So she’s not likely to re-emerge as a councillor until 2020 at the earliest.”

A warrant was issued for Black’s arrest over a week ago when she stormed out of an earlier court hearing.

She went on the run but was arrested last Friday at a friend’s house in Bellbowrie in Brisbane’s west.
