As promised, the 2012-13 RSPCA kill rate data for all states.
Once again, RSPCA NSW has the highest kill rates for both cats and dogs despite a $50 million cash and investment portfolio of surplus donations.
And that’s with approx. 4000 RSPCA NSW kills hived off by RSPCA to as-yet-unreleased council data by contractual terms imposed by RSPCA, which based on last year’s stats will increase their cat kill rate, in particular, very substantially. (As far as I am aware, RSPCA NSW is the only state which does this).
These stats would go up even more if you took off return to owners before doing the calculation. That’s one way they try to make themselves look better using return to owner to inflate save figures.
