IRNA –President Hassan Rouhani emphasized on Monday that Iran and Zimbabwe capitalize on capacities and opportunities available to benefit their people.
‘Iranian people have always regarded their Zimbabwean peers as to be resilient, resistant and friendly,’ President Rouhani said in a meeting with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.
The people of Zimbabwe have fought for their independence and they continue to do so, said the President adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has enjoyed satisfactory ties with the African nation since after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Confirming his country’s friendly ties with Iran, Mugabe emphasized that Zimbabwe is seeking to establish vast and closer relations with Iran.
‘Zimbabwe has high potentials for development in different areas, including agriculture, information technologies, mining and natural resources, and the country possesses rich human resources,’ he said.
President Mugabe said that such capacities could serve as a fertile ground for sharing of experiences and boosting cooperation and interactions with Iran.
The Zimbabwean President was one of the eight heads of states who attended President Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony for his second term in office on August 5.
