The City of Detroit welcomed a creole restaurant to the Rosa Parks Transit Center on Tuesday in a five-year deal that brings the first commercial tenant to the downtown bus depot.
Louisiana Creole Gumbo, which has a location on Gratiot near Eastern Market, will operate on the second floor of the transit center at Cass and Michigan and pay the city $14,500 a year in rent, Detroit Department of Transportation CEO Ron Freeland said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Deputy Mayor Kirk Lewis.
