“I am honored to have won the Guam caucuses, an important milestone in my quest to restore America to the principles and practices that made us great,” he added.
All 251 delegates from the island’s 19 villages backed Romney, who sent his son Matt to Guam and the nearby Northern Marianas to campaign on his behalf.
The United States took control of the island as a part of the Treaty of Paris which ended the 1898 Spanish-American War.
The former Massachusetts governor also picked up all nine delegates in the Northern Mariana Islands in the western Pacific, winning 740 of the 848 votes cast.
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum ended up with 53 votes, while Texas Congressman Ron Paul got 28, and former House of Representative Speaker Newt Gingrich received 27.
However, in the Kansas caucuses Santorum won a decisive 53 percent of the vote on Saturday, with 17 percent going to Romney, 15 percent for Gingrich, and 13 percent for Paul.
In the United States, a president is not elected directly by the people but by the Electoral College. This means a candidate may be elected despite losing the popular vote.
