Nobel Prize-Winner Richard Feynman was widely regarded as one of the greatest physicists to have ever lived—but his true fame, it could be argued, came from his unique ability to explain complex ideas in a way that was not only understandable but inspirational. It comes as no surprise, then, that a video blending Feynman’s lectures with quotes from his sister and incredible footage of nature and space not only finds a way to succinctly illustrate the link between nature and scientific research but also offers an uplifting message.
The mashup is the work of TEDx Speaker Reid Gower who has produced a series of videos based on the works of Carl Sagan and now Richard Feynman with the goal of promoting scientific literacy.
In an election year that is, in part, marked by willful denial of scientific evidence, in a nation that is woefully misinformed on key issues and has set itself up for even deeper failure in the future, such an effort is commendable; indeed, even essential.
