Two children have died and 435 people were hospitalised after eating food during a Ramadan festival party.
Five of those in hospital were said to be critical after eating at the same ‘iftaar’ event – when Muslims are allowed to break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
All of the victims were taken to ID Hospital at Beliaghata, where the six-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy died.

Minister of State for Health Chandrima Bhattacharya said people fell
ill after eating ‘ghugni’ – a snack made from pulses served with gravy
and rice – that had been cooked at a community kitchen in the Bankra
area of North 24 Parganas district, Calcutta.
A medical team has been sent to Bankra, the minister added.
Ramadan is a month in the Islamic calendar when Muslims fast between the hours of sunrise and sunset. At nightfall, families take part in the fast-breaking iftaar meal.
