LONDON, Ont. – The past of a man accused of killing eight-year-old Victoria Stafford is expected to be on display today at his first-degree murder trial.
A biologist from the Centre of Forensic Sciences is expected to wrap up her testimony this morning then face cross-examination from Michael Rafferty‘s lawyer.
Rafferty has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, sexual assault causing bodily harm and kidnapping in Tori‘s April 2009 death.
Court heard that scientists determined to a near certainty that blood found on a gym bag is a mixture of Tori’s and Rafferty’s.
Once the testimony about DNA evidence is finished, the Crown has indicated the next focus will be on Rafferty’s ties to the Mount Forest, Ont., area, where Tori’s remains were found in July 2009.
Court heard Wednesday about the state of Rafferty’s car from one of his ex-girlfriends, who said they went to middle school together near Mount Forest.
