Queensland town expected to flood

The Queensland town of Gympie is expected to be flooded on Sunday morning.

The Bureau of Meteorology says moderate flooding continues on the Mary River at Gympie, with a moderate flood peak of about 16 metres expected about 8am on Sunday (AEST).

At 10pm on Saturday, the river level at Gympie was at 14 metres and rising.

But river levels downstream at Maryborough are expected to remain below the minor flood level.

The bureau also says stream levels continue to ease along Six Mile Creek, with moderate flooding easing at Cooran.

Further downsteam at Miva, minor flooding is expected.
