Qld worker foils robbery with cup of tea

A shop worker has thrown a cup of tea at a bandit who threatened her with a screwdriver and wooden stake during an attempted robbery in Brisbane.

The young male offender entered the Browns Plains grocery store about 6.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday and demanded money, police said.

The 25-year-old female worker refused to hand over any cash, angering the offender who brandished the screwdriver at her and banged the wooden stake on the counter.

She then threw the tea at the bandit, who pulled down shelves and pushed over a fridge before fleeing empty handed.

Police are still searching for the bandit.
