Qld parliament to resume on Tuesday

Two contentious bills will be debated as Queensland’s parliament sits for a second week running, with Premier Campbell Newman’s government chewing through legislation.

They include the industrial relationship bill, which will give the attorney-general strike-busting powers, and the environment protection bill, which will see 90 pages wiped from the state’s Environment Protection Act.

The opposition says it will pursue the government on “a range of issues”.

“… and hopefully this week ministers may actually surprise and answer questions posed to them,” an opposition spokesman said in a statement.
