QLD boy critical after being hit by car

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy is in a critical condition with serious head injuries after he was hit by a car south of Brisbane.

The boy was struck when he stepped out on to a main road at Springwood early on Saturday afternoon, police say.

The driver who hit the child stopped to help him.

No one has been charged over the incident, a police spokesman told AAP.

“It looks like the child’s probably stepped out in front of the path of a car who could do nothing but attempt to avoid hitting him,” he said.

“It’s certainly nothing sinister.”

The boy ws taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he’s in a critical condition.

Forensic specialists are investigating.
