Qeshm, July 20, IRNA – One of the advisors at the Qesh Island geopark in southern Iran has been appointed to the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, says official.
The appointment of Alireza Amri Kazemi to the twelve-member UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, is expected to pave the way for the Qeshm Island Geopark to be added to the list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Farzin Haqdel Cultural, Social and Tourism Deputy of Qeshm Free Trade Zone Organization said on Tuesday.
The appointment of the Qeshm Island Geopark advisor is a major step forward for the geopark to be enlisted as a World Heritage Site.
Kazemi is responsible for many of the projects in the Qeshm Geopark launched as requirements for a UNESCO enlistment, he said.
