A two-year-old boy was hospitalised after a python attacked him in his family’s far north Queensland backyard.
The boy’s mother discovered the python curled around the boy at Port Douglas on Monday evening.
“Then I heard this blood curdling scream,” the woman told the Cairns Post.
“The snake was biting his leg and was wrapped around his whole body, to his chest. It started constricting.”
After neighbours helped free the toddler, he was taken Mossman Hospital and then Cairns Base Hospital, where he was treated for four bite wounds.
He was released on Tuesday night, after doctors determined it was a non-venomous snake responsible for the attack.
