Pub workers threatened with machete, gun

Sydney pub staff have been threatened with a shotgun and a machete during an attempted robbery.

Three men brandishing the weapons burst into the hotel on Bourke Street, in Surry Hills, just after closing time on Sunday night.

They ordered workers onto the ground and demanded cash but the tills had already been emptied and the masked crooks left empty-handed.

Police are appealing for help catching the men, who are said to have fled in a four-door sedan.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
