Protesters slam Shia killings in Pakistan

The angry protesters chanted slogans against the government, as well as law enforcement agencies for their failure to control the targeted sectarian killings in the province of Balochistan.

The rally was organized by Wahdatul Muslimeen and other religious and social groups.

Over the past few days, dozens of innocent Shia Muslims from the Hazara community, including women and children have been killed.

On Monday, a man from the Hazara community was killed in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.

Various religious parties called for a strike against the sectarian violence, on Sunday.

Hundreds of Shia Muslims have been killed in various parts of the violence-hit country over the past few months.

The incidents of sectarian violence forced the government to deploy troops and impose a curfew in the northern towns of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Activists also urged the Pakistani government to represent the will of the Pakistani people by arresting those involved in the recent massacres and ending the curfew in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The country’s Shia leaders have also called on the government to form a judicial commission to investigate the crimes.

The killing of Shias is to such extent that has caused international outrage, with rights groups and regional countries, including Iran, expressing concern over the ongoing genocide.

Protests against the ongoing brutal massacre of innocent Shia Muslims in Pakistan have been held in countries across the world including the US, the UK, and Canada.

On Saturday, activists in the US state of California held a rally in front of the Consulate of Pakistan in Los Angeles to condemn the recent killings. The rally was organized by the Muslim Congress.

Terrorist militant groups have been engaged in a violent campaign against Shias over the past few years in Pakistan.

Local sources say thousands of Shia Muslims have been killed in the Kurram region since 2007.

Although Shias represent the majority population in Kurram, they are surrounded by Taliban-linked aggressive militants who have gone so far as to cut off roads over the past few months.

The militants are also accused of kidnapping or killing those trying to deliver supplies to the Shia areas.
