President Rouhani: Time to start JCPOA2 today

Tehran, Feb 3, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday now that Iran has passed through the JCPOA1 it is time to begin the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action 2, which is a national joint plan of action.

‘The opponents, proponents and the critics of the government, all agree on need for pursuing the country’s major objectives. We have no difference of opinion in need to pursue the national development plan, to resolve the water shortage problem, to preserve the environment, to capture the space and to master in nano, bio, IT and ITC technologies, so there is a national will to solve the country’s problems,’ he said.

Addressing a gathering to unveil three national aerospace achievements, Rouhani said that everyone knows that the country’s major problem is resolving the unemployment challenge.

‘We are trying to create new jobs by generating economic blossoming. In this respect, too, there is no difference of opinion. We need to interact with the world to secure Iran’s interests, and there might be different approaches for doing so,’ he added.

The president, meanwhile, referred to the high volume of criticism against the 11th government, arguing that no government had endured from as much pressure from internal political circles.

‘Of course being subject to criticism is not a bad thing, and is even desirable, but the volume of destructive criticism against this government is incomparable with the previous governments. No government had been annoyed this much,’ he said.

The president, meanwhile, said that the people appreciate the services rendered by his government and support it.

‘Now, too, everyone should be at the scene and one of those scenes is achieving mastership in modern technologies,’ emphasized Rouhani.

Resolved Sanctions Problem

The president said that the enemies had throughout the previous decades created countless problems for this nation by imposing unjust sanctions.

‘Even a single ship could not berth at our ports. Sometimes the ships had to hoist other countries’ flags because the Iranian ships, too, were not allowed berth at foreign countries’ ports,’ he added.

Rouhani said that transferring money for imports and exports was not possible, and even when Iran did so 10 to 25 percent extra money was paid from the people’s pockets.

‘We could not sell the oil that belonged to us or to enter the markets that were our domain for oil sales,’ he added.
