“The Powerball jackpot has ballooned to an estimated $360 million, with a cash value of $229.2 million, making it the third largest Powerball jackpot and the seventh largest jackpot ever.”
The Powerball jackpot was originally set at $350 million claimed Florida Lottery officials on May 13, however Powerball Lottery officals increased it by another $10 million to $360 million since last Saturday’s drawing. How high will it go? It’s anyone’s guess, but it may rise even higher by the time the Wednesday, May 15 drawing rolls around. Just last Wednesday, the Powerball jackpot was at $222 million, which means it’s grown over $138 million in just one week!
Meanwhile, California Lottery officials reported Sunday, “Even though no one matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s $270 million Powerball jackpot draw, three lucky California players did match five out of six numbers and will split a prize worth $1,721,082, making each ticket worth $573,694. Even better news – because no one matched all six numbers Saturday night that means Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot has rolled to an incredible $350 million!”
What’s the probability of winning the Powerball jackpot? Lottery officials say the overall odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510. The odds of winning any Powerball prize is 1 in 31.85.
The Powerball winning numbers are drawn live Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 10:59 p.m. EDT in Florida. The Powerball game is played in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.
According to Powerball lottery officials, “Choose five (5) numbers, ranging from 1 to 59, and one (1) Powerball number ranging from 1 to 35. If you are a Powerball jackpot winner, you will have the choice of a cash option or an annual payout.”
