Police want phone footage of Syd shooting

Sydney police investigating last month’s shooting of two teens in Kings Cross are calling for witnesses who took mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward.

The 14 and 17 year olds, who had allegedly been driving a stolen car along a crowded footpath in the early hours of April 21, remain in hospital more than a week after they were shot by officers.

Central Metropolitan Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch said a key aspect of investigations had been gathering witness accounts and viewing mobile phone vision taken by members of the public.

“We believe there could be further amateur vision or photos taken at the scene which have not been provided to police,” he said in a statement.

“Many people have posted vision of the incident online. We need them to contact investigators so they can recount what they saw and heard before they started filming.”

The teens and four others who were in the car have been charged.

Along with the criminal investigation into the incident, a separate critical incident investigation is looking into the actions of the police involved.
