The clashes broke out on Saturday after police moved to disperse several hundred Muslims rallying against the supporters of the far-right populist Pro Germany Citizens’ Movement (Pro-NRW), AP reported.
The protesters were outraged after the far-right extremists displayed anti-Islam caricatures.
A number of police officers were injured in scuffles with protesters.
Several police cars were also damaged and five people were arrested.
