Queenslanders have been sent a grim reminder that if they don’t wear seatbelts, they could become the state’s next crash victim.
At least five of the seven people killed in Queensland road crashes since Friday night, two of them children, weren’t wearing seatbelts, or weren’t properly restrained.
All of the crashes except one were in country areas, and police have again reinforcing the basic road safety messages about speed, drink-driving, fatigue and seatbelts.
Inspector Ray Rohweder says drivers in country areas shouldn’t think they don’t need a seatbelt just because the roads might be quiet.
Police are investigating fatal crashes at Cape York, another near Stanthorpe, one at Dalveen and a fourth at Caboolture, north of Brisbane.
