The bear cub was soon drawing thousands of new visitors to Berlin Zoo to watch
him frolic with his keeper. But he died in March 2011 after suffering an
epileptic fit at juest four years-old.
Andre Stadler, curator at Wuppertal Zoo, said, “the mother cares for the
little bear, contrary to Knut, who was raised by human hand.”
“We can’t influence anything here as it is the mother who decides when the
child can go in or out. We’re only opening the gate,” he added.
