On Friday, a group of PKK gunmen attacked Turkish security forces patrolling the Bahcesaray district in the eastern border province of Van, Xinhua reported.
The wounded soldier was flown to Van Military Hospital by a helicopter after he was taken to Bahcesaray State Hospital for initial treatment.
Clashes between PKK militants and Turkish forces backed by military aircraft continue in the region.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community, including Turkey, Iran, the United States, and European Union member states.
Over 40,000 people have lost their lives since the PKK launched its armed campaign against Ankara in 1984.
