Photo of the Day: Coyote hidden in tall grass

Coyotes are masters of staying hidden, and prefer to remain unseen. With a coat that matches so well with the landscape, if you manage to spot one then consider yourself lucky! This important predator plays a key role in keeping ecosystems in balance, including helping to boost biodiversity among songbirds by eating the rodents and mesopredators (racoons, skunks and snakes for example) that prey on birds.
