People sick of Labor in-fighting: Brown

Australians Greens Leader Bob Brown says Prime Minister Julia Gillard must bring the in-fighting within the Labor Party to a halt.

Senator Brown said people are “sick to death” about the leadership speculation involving Ms Gillard and Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd.

He said Ms Gillard must assert her authority and get people around a table to thrash it out.

“It’s bit hard if someone is in Mexico I guess, but they all come home to roost and you have got to face up to any problems that are there with all the full force of leadership that’s at one’s disposal,” Senator Brown told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.

Mr Rudd was in Mexico earlier this week attending a G20 foreign ministers meeting and is now in Washington.

But Senator Brown still says he made the right decision in backing Ms Gillard to form a minority government in 2010, rather than supporting Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.

“Go for the yes, not for the no. We made the right choice two years ago and we are helping to unfold that choice to the advantage of all Australians,” Senator Brown said.
