Passenger plane crashes in Pakistan

The Boeing 737, belonging to Bhoja Airline, was flying from Karachi and was supposed to land in Islamabad at 6:40 p.m. local time but came down outside Islamabad airport.

According to local media reports, the cause of the incident was bad weather conditions.

Witnesses said that flame could be seen rising from the crash site and fire has reportedly engulfed several buildings.

Rescue teams and ambulances have reportedly rushed to the crash site.

Sources in Civil Aviation Authority say the plane was given clearance to land but it lost contact with the control tower minutes before it crashed in Goral town.

All hospitals in the two cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been put on high alert after the crash.

The incident has reportedly left at least 118 people dead.
