Return to Part 1.

December 23, 2011  Kitchener, Ontario, Canada – Part 1 in this series of Earthfiles reports about high strangeness in the Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, sky summarized the similar multiple-colored patterns that people in many parts of the United States have taken since 2008, beginning with the UFO flap in Stephenville, Texas, in January 2008. Part 2 features series of images that Kitchener resident Greg Crane has photographed from the second week of September 2011 to mid-December 2011, including two 30-second exposures on November 13, 2011.

This Part 3 begins with three December 1, 2011, images taken by professional photographer Terry Scott White of TSW Photography in Kitchener. On December 1, beginning at 6:48 PM Eastern, Terry had a sturdy tripod upon which he had mounted his Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera when he took the following three different exposures. His lens had a focal length of 300 mm with a 1.4 converter that changed the lens to 420 mm. His aperture was 6.3. A Canon Camera tech support agent looked at the images and said they could not be explained by camera stabilization.

Digital Camera Anomalies?

After my Earthfiles Parts 1 and 2, I received the following email with an image attached from a long-time friend and survey engineer in New Jersey, Vincent Creevy.

From:   Vincent Creevy
Subject:   Kitchener Lights
Date:   December 12, 2011
To:   Linda Moulton Howe [email protected]

Linda,

As you know I take a lot of photos. I just went outside at around 10:00 PM Eastern tonight (December 12) and took the attached photo (hand-held, no tripod). I did not try to do anything unusual, but merely took a picture of a a bright planet or star ( I think it was Sirius) at a longer exposure (about 1 second). As you can see the results are almost exactly like the ones photographed in Kitchener. Tell me what you think.

Vince

1-second-exposure, hand-held by Vince Creevy at 10 PM Eastern,
December 12, 2011, in Howell, New Jersey, focused on the star Sirius.
His camera is a NIKON D-90  VR 70-300 mm (Vibration Reduction,
otherwise known as stabilization); F/4.5-5.6 G;
L (4288 x 2848) -3.08 mb. 300 meters-Auto (ISO 3200);
1 sec.-F/6.3; DEV-Auto.0.0.

With Vince’s question, I contacted Canon technical support to first ask about Terry White’s three images (top of this report) photographed on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II mounted on a sturdy tripod. The technician said the longer exposures in a camera mounted on a tripod would not be significantly affected by stabilization. In fact, he said in Canon equipment, stabilization operating in tripod-mounted cameras would be slight and might produce blurry focus, but not sharp paths of multiple colors and looping trails. “In the 30-second-exposure Image 038, the bright object is paralleling the star field and there is no camera stabilization explanation for the undulating trail that ends in a roundish object. Something moved from the bright object and was captured in that 30-second exposure.”

Next, I sent the Canon technician these three images taken by Greg Crane.

“I have been watching these strange lights for about
a year and a half. I do know these are not twinkling stars.
 I have tried different shutter speeds with my camera on a
tripod and the colorful object moves a lot.”

– Greg Crane, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

digital camera on left, November 25, 2011, and on right, second week
of
September 2011, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Images © 2011 by Greg Crane.

One of Greg Crane’s first images in late July 2011, with his new Kodak Easyshare camera
on a tripod. When he transferred his digital images to his computer and enlarged them,
he noticed the red “dot” in the lower left of this image. He also found red, green and blue “dots”
in a triangular pattern around the larger silver aerial object in many of his images.

The Canon technician said that image stabilization in a Kodak Easyshare mounted on a tripod and using a 1/2-second-exposure would not produce long, looping, multiple colored trails. “The sky object emanating the multiple colors must be moving very rapidly to produce the long, complicated trails in such a short shutter speed.” Kitchener resident Greg Crane agrees and stresses how much he has to keep moving his camera lens to stay focused on the unidentified aerial objects that move so much.

December 2011 Change in Kitchener
Aerial Light Actions

Greg Crane continues to look for the strange, bright-silver-colorful objects and has recently made half-second-exposures in which two multiple-color objects together in the sky move and for the first time that Greg has never seen until now, something drops from one of the colorful objects. I asked him what the geography is beneath those latest objects. The only features that stand out amid the farm land are the Grand River.

Greg Crane’s hillside home is near Bridgeport East (middle red circle)
very near the Grand River, north of downtown Kitchener (bottom red circle).

Continued in Part 4 – What is dropping from colorful, moving lights? And to where?
