Paper.li and Penn State University: Reinventing The Lesson Plan

It’s always nice to hear when you are helping to make a difference. So this past week we felt really great when we received a note from publisher, Kate Morgan, updating us on the excitement around her Paper.li project in the classroom at Penn State University.

Kate discovered Paper.li this past summer and began using the service in her classroom in September. The project has not only been a great success with her students, but also co-workers.

What started as a project for one classroom is quickly turning into a reference for social media in the classroom. In passing peers refer to her work as “The Morgan Methodology” which is becoming the Lehigh Valley campus vernacular for “curating tweets using Paper.li”. They are curious to know how they can develop their own lesson plans to include more of the same in their classrooms.

Educator Sir Ken Robinson speaks passionately about the need to re-invent education. He believes that a re-thinking of education is necessary to cultivate the creativity needed for our children to succeed in the future. Perhaps real time communication and curation projects such as Kate’s Class Matters The Weekly Vibe or one of the other numerous educational Paper.lis that can be read on the newsstand will be a part of that solution.
