Palestinian shot after claims of stabbing Israeli soldier

Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli forces shot, seriously wounded Palestinian youth in Jerusalem on Sunday, claiming he had stabbed Israeli soldier.

The Palestinian youth, who was shot by the Israeli occupation forces at the Damascus Gate of Al-Aqsa Mosque, suffered serious wounds and left bleeding for at least 15 minutes.

According to Palestinian sources, the youth was identified as Yasser Yassin Tarwa, 18, from Sa’ir town, east of the southern West Bank city of Al-Khalil. He is believed to be clinically dead.

Israeli police and media claimed that the man stabbed an Israeli soldier before he was shot in the chest. However, this narrative was challenged by witnesses.

“I saw the youth arguing with the Israeli soldier,” an eyewitness said. “The Israeli soldier wanted to slap the Palestinian youth, who immediately held his hand and pushed him back before another Israeli soldier shot six live bullets at him from about a half-metre distance.”

The Israeli occupation imposed gag order regarding information about the Israeli soldier claiming he was stabbed. “This made the Israeli narrative untrusted,” Palestinian Lawyer Sa’id Tawfiq told Days of Palestine.

According to the lawyer, the Israeli occupation wanted to whitewash the violations of its troops, who have recently shot another Palestinian, claiming he had shot an Israeli soldier.
