Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Palestinian hunger striking journalist Mohamed al-Qeeq rejected bid of Israeli court to be released on the first of May, a statement said on Sunday.
In the statement, Palestinian Authority (PA) Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs reported that the MK Osama Saadi and lawyer Ashraf abu-Sneinah received the offer after severe deterioration of Al-Qeeq’s health condition.
Late on Friday, Doctors at HaEmek Hospital, where Al-Qeeq is being hospitalised, said that he could face “immediate death” at any time.
On day 74, Lawyer Hiba Masalha, who visited the hunger striker in the Israeli hospital, said: “Al-Qeeq lost ability to speak, ability to move his limbs and he suffers from major breathing difficulties.”
She also reported the deputy manager of the Israeli hospital saying: “Al-Qeeq is experiencing continuous dangerous health deterioration. There is a real danger on his kidneys and intestines due to lack of extrication for a month.”
Journalist Al-Qeeq has been on hunger-strike for 75 days, protesting against his administrative detention by the Israeli occupation.
An Israeli court, on Thursday, offered to temporarily suspend his administrative detention, with the sentence to be resumed upon an improvement of his health. He rejected the offer, stressing that he would reject any other offer does not clearly end his detention.
